What is up with DC nowadays?

so yeah..right now DC is at the halfway mark of its "Infinite Crisis", the official sequel to the universe destroying "Crisis on Infinte Earths" from back in the 80s
anyways, just like the first Crisis, Infinite Crisis promises to mess over a lot of heroes and make things more streamlined for readers
anyways, a little summary on the lead up to Infinte Crisis...first the 4 Big lead-in books (Rann/Thanagar War, OMAC Project, Day of Vengeance, Villains United)
-Rann (home of Adam Strange) and Thanagar (home of Hawkman) started a war which pretty much includes any and all of DC's space-faring heroes and villains...the end result of the Rann/Thanagar War was a gi-normus rip in the fabric of space
-Blue Beetle was killed by Maxwell Lord after discovering Max's plan to rid the world of metahumans by using an all seeing satellite called Brother Eye and his Sentinel ripoffs, the OMACs...eventually the heroes find out about Max's plan after Max takes control of Superman and pits him against Batman and Wonder Woman (Max is a meta too...self hater  ). Wonder Woman then kills Max in order to free Superman, but not before Brother Eye broadcasts the murder all over the world...now people are scared (more so) of Wonder Woman...also, we find out that Brother Eye was originally one of Batman's creations made during his fits of paranoia

-after the Spectre and Hal Jordan parted ways after Hal becomes Green Lantern again, he was seduced by the new Eclipso, Jean Loring....yeah....the same Jean Loring that turned out to be the killer in Identity Crisis...anyways, she got Spectre to thinking that all magic was bad and had to be destroyed...so Spectre went after any one and everything that was magic related (Atlantis, Phantom Stranger, Dr. Fate, etc.)...soon a ragtag group of magic people (Blue Devil, Ragman, Enchantress, Detective Chimp, Nightshade, Nightmaster), called the Shadowpact, went after Spectre and Jeanclipso, nearly beating Spectre twice (with some help from Captain Marvel and Black Alice on both almost-defeats)...but they do beat Jeanclipso by putting her in constant orbit of the sun (Eclipsoes don't like sunlight)....anyways, Spectre decides to go after the big magic man of DC, Shazam (the guy who give all the Marvels their power)...Shazam holds his own, but he is fighting an instrument of God...so Spectre wins and kills Shazam...this causes Shazam's home, the Rock of Eternity to blow up (over Gotham City convienently) and releases a mess of old magic over the world
-and finally...after finding out about the mindwipes that the JLA did on some villains back in the day, Lex Luthor decides to organize DC's villains so the mindwipes wouldn't happen again...this group of villains was dubbed "The Society"...(the main group was Lex Luthor, the Calculator, Black Adam, Deathstroke, Talia Al Ghul, Dr. Psycho)...however there were some villains that declined to join the Society...6 in particular (Catman, Ragdoll, Parademon, Scandal, Chesire, and Deadshot)...these six were then forced to work for someone named Mockingbird or else bad things would happen to them or those they loved...they became the Secret Six and became the bane of the Society's existance...eventually things came to a head with the Society as Chesire was exposed as a traitor...and in the resulting battle with the Society, Parademon died...then we find out that Mockingbird was really Lex Luthor..and the Lex Luthor in the Society was another Lex Luthor from somewhere else

that was a lot huh?...that's just the tip of the iceberg for the early tie ins....here's so more
-Donna Troy returned from the grave and was revealed to be the new Harbinger and always has been the Harbinger
-Power Girl's real origin was revealed...she's actually the Power Girl, Kara Zor-L, from Earth-2 (pre-original Crisis stuff)...this techincally makes here another Supergirl, since Power Girl was Earth-2 Superman's cousin...
oh yeah, on more thing I forgot
-in JLA, Batman finally confronted the old League members (Hawkman, Zatanna, Green Lantern, Black Canary, and Green Arrow) about the villain mindwipes, and the mindwipe job they did on him too...but then the Secret Society of Supervillains (no relation to The Society or the Secret Six) attack the Leauge, knowing about the mindwipes now and the heroes secret identities (and were super pissed)...we then found out it was Despero (big pink super powerful nekkid alien) who told got returned of the Secret Society's memories....anyways, they beat them with a little help from Superman, Red Tornado, Catwoman, Flash, and Martian Manhunter...and Zatanna mindwipes the villains again (Despero is taken to Oa by GL)...and then we find out Catwoman was one of the villains mindwiped a long time ago (which explains why she got all friendly over the years)...and the League disbands...but not before someone using Superman's DNA teleporter transports into the Watchtower and blows it up, with Martian Manhunter still there
and thus began the Infinite Crisis

Infinite Crisis #1
-after the Watchtower gets blown up, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman go up there talk about how they can't trust each other anymore (Batman making Brother Eye, Superman attacking Batman, Wonder Woman killing Max Lord)...they get in a hissy fit when Mongul attacks them...of course, the Big 3 beat him easily, but Wonder Woman is about to go stabby on him, but Superman stops her...and the 3 leave in disappointment of each other
-the Freedom Fighters (Uncle Sam, Damage, Ray, Human Bomb, Black Condor, Phantom Lady) pick up a lead on the Society, but accidentally run into the most powerful villains in the DC (Black Adam, Sinestro, Zoom, Cheetah, Bizarro, Deathstroke etc.)...and then the bodies start hitting the floor...Black Condor: laser'D by Sinestro, Phantom Lady: stabbity death by Deathstroke, Uncle Sam: just beat the hell up, Human Bomb: punched to death by Bizarro....although Human Bomb did take down Dr. Polaris with him)...so only Damage and Ray survived, but Ray was taken by the Psycho Pirate on Luthor's orders
-finally, 4 mysterious people are looking at images of what's going on in the DC Universe inside a crystal palace dealie... and getting really disgusted on what they see...one in particular has had enough and smashes the crystal wall, freeing them...saying "This looks like a job for ....SUPERMAN of Earth-2....yeah...Pre-Crisis people....but yeah...him, Lois Lane of Earth-2, Alexander Luthor of Earth-3, and Superboy of Earth Prime survived the first Crisis
next up Infinite Crisis #2

so its been a while since I updated this topic too...I'll try my best to go through everything
-INFINITE CRISIS IN A NUTSHELL: Alexander Luthor and Superboy Prime basically get emo and believe that their sacrifice during the original Crisis was in vain because of how crappy the DCU looks to them...so they try to bring back the Multiverse and then make "the perfect Earth"...this is how the tie-ins fit....the Rann/Thanagar War was basically caused in order to change where the center of the universe was Pre-original Crisis, Day of Vengeance was in order to get all the magical energies back to their primal form, Villains United and OMAC Project were things to keep the heroes busy and to get the materials needed to bring back the Multiverse....the heroes eventually figure all of this out...but only at the last minute...and at the sacrifice of many heroes...most notably Superboy dying in order to reform the returned-Multiverse into one "New" Earth
-In the end...Superboy Prime was finally defeated by the combined forces of Superman, Earth-2 Superman, and the ENTIRE Green Lantern Corps...but Superboy Prime savagely beat Earth-2 Superman to death and is still alive but in custody of the Green Lantern Corps while inside of a Red Sun to keep him depowered....Alexander Luthor wasn't so lucky....he was killed by the team of Lex Luthor and the Joker...
-finally the Big 3 (Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman) decide to take a year off to re-evaluate their roles in the DCU and to just take a break...Superman lost his powers after the fight with Superboy Prime, Wonder Woman had to rethink what she wanted to do with her life since the Amazons are gone and the world is still untrusting of her after the Max Lord Neck Snapping Fiasco, and Batman goes on a cruise with Robin and Nightwing to in order to become a better Batman (insert pedo-Batman jokes here)
more about after "52" and ONE YEAR LATER ....later..

yeah...but then he's able to make another plan that counters his stolen plans...and he's able to get back in the heroes' good graces
even though the way he got back in the heroes' good graces was really cheesy
Post Tower of Babel: "I'm really Bruce Wayne...now you have to trust me"
Post OMAC : "They mind-wiped me...I have my rights"
